On the afternoon of December 29, 2023, the School of Finance and Economics held a New Year’s celebration event for 2024 at the Ethnic Restaurant of Jiangsu University, with the theme "Stronger Affection in the New Year, Embracing the Future Together." Professor Hu Xuhua, the dean of the School of Finance and Economics, along with the vice deans Yan Jun, and Li Kaodui, and Zhu Yanjie, the director of the International Education Office, as well as more than 40 student representatives from over 10 countries, attended the New Year’s greetings event.

     Otu, a doctoral graduate from Ghana, represented all international students and expressed gratitude to the school for the care and support provided to international students in their studies and daily lives. He stated that China is his second home, and the profound Chinese culture has deeply attracted him. His experience of studying and living in China has been a challenging yet fulfilling journey. Although he is soon to graduate and leave China, Otu expressed his commitment to cultural exchange between the Chinese and his home country's youth. He holds the belief that "where there’s a will, there’s a way," and with everyone’s joint efforts, they will certainly build the most beautiful and enduring bridge of friendship.

    Professor Hu Xuhua extended New Year blessings to all international students on behalf of the school, encouraging them to study cultural knowledge diligently and deeply experience the beauty of Chinese excellent culture. He hoped that everyone could become messengers of cultural exchange between China and other countries, build bridges for international communication, and become important links for international exchange, and contribute to international communication and exchange.

    Subsequently, the school leaders presented carefully prepared New Year’s gift packages to the student representatives to express their care and blessings to the international students. During the event, under the guidance and demonstration of the teachers, the international students enthusiastically tried their hand at making dumplings, looking forward to the arrival of 2024 together. The care and blessings from the school leaders made the international students feel warm. They expressed their gratitude to the university and the School of Finance and Economics for their care and love and thanked the teachers for their kindness. They felt that during their study abroad, they not only acquired scientific and cultural knowledge but also personally experienced China’s excellent traditional culture, which was very meaningful and rewarding. The student representatives expressed their determination to study hard and make greater progress in the new year. They also wished Jiangsu University and the School of Finance and Economics continued success, and wished the teachers a prosperous New Year.
