On the afternoon of March 18th, the Life Department of the School of Finance and Economics successfully held a dialect contest with the theme of “Hometown Voice” in the 807 classroom of Sanjiang Building. The event was in unique content and in novel form, attracting many students to attend.
     The host used the traditional details of the dialect as a guide, briefly introduced the background of the event and the purpose of the event and then entered the first game session - the word quiz. Each participating team will play in turn and guess the meaning of the words described in the dialect in the simple statement according to the PPT audio. The contestants started to be a bit nervous, but as the event progressed, there were some “wrong” speculations that made people feel uncomfortable, pushing the atmosphere of the event to a small climax. The whole process was full of fun. The students on the stage were eager to identify the dialect words in the PPT audio, and the audience laughed happily from time to time.
After the end of the intense and exciting words and quiz, It came to the second part - the question and answer session. This session requires the players to guess the meaning of one of the sentences based on the dialogue that audio played. Although the difficulty of the topic has increased, the performance of the players could be still remarkable. The teams carefully analyzed the dialogue tone, carefully pondered the pronunciation of the dialects, and even judged whether the dialogue expressed doubts based on the punctuation marks left by the officers when making the PPT. Everyone worked within the group for a limited time to get more points. The audience couldn't help but cheer for it. In the face of extremely complicated dialect dialogues, in addition to laughing and joking, we can't help but sigh the diversity of dialects and the profoundness of dialect culture.
    The atmosphere of the competition has become more active and the performance of the players has become even better. Then I went to the last part of the contest - interactive quiz. In this link, the quiz words given by the PPT all need to be expressed in the dialect, which adds difficulty and interest to the activity. The players made all the effort, fully exerted their imagination, and flexibly applied body language, which led to the laughter on the spot and pushed the atmosphere of the event to the climax.
    After the game session was over, the scores of each group were counted and the host played a carefully edited short film. The short film introduced in detail the current situation of the dialects, the crisis it is facing. It also reveals the significance of the dialects in one person, especially the wanderers who are away from home. It also evokes people's thinking about the local culture---- Living in dialects, Keeping the cultural roots!
