About the program

The major in statistics was founded in 1986. In 1997, it became the first statistical master's degree programs in Jiangsu Province. In 2010, it obtained the right to grant a degree in applied statistics, and in 2011 was granted the master's degree in statistics. In 2012, it was approved as a key specialty of higher education in Jiangsu Province during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan".

There are 15 full-time teachers in this discipline, including 3 professors, 9 associate professors, and 14 teachers with doctorate degrees; 3 provincial-level talents. We own one scientific and technological innovation team of Jiangsu University; one center for innovative economic development and evaluation, Statistical Application Research Base and Statistical Scientific Research Base of Jiangsu Province.

Relying on the high-level research platforms and research bases, the discipline has formed three distinctive directions in the field of statistics, such as scientific and technological statistical theory and methods, economic statistics and big data analysis, and mathematical statistical methods and applications. Presided over 6 National level projects, over more than 30 provincial and ministerial level projects, and over more than 50 city level projects; won 8 provincial and ministerial level and national industry awards; published 8 academic monographs; published more than 100 papers in famous journals of this discipline.

Focusing on the cultivation objectives of talents, the discipline has undertaken 16 teaching and research projects at all levels, including 4 at the provincial and ministerial levels; published 27 research papers, and published 7 textbooks such as <Statistics>, <Market Survey and Analysis> et al.

While striving to build its own connotation, we will continue to maintain existing distinguishing feature and advantages, keep foothold on domestic leadership, face to the international level, and achieve sustainable development of the discipline.
